I'm pretty sure that murder is about what it would take to even get people to start mentioning the "i" word (that would be "impeachment," in case I'm being cryptic) more often. The Repubs used to whine about how Clinton was the Teflon president, but if that was so, Dubya is some new polymer-based coating that they haven't even started marketing yet. I can't figure it out, but then, I struggle with the general idea of Republicanism to begin with, so maybe I'm not the best judge.

Scott: thanks for reminding me of that additional point in Feingold's favor. He may be unpredictable, but there's a certain consistent moral logic that underlies his positions, I think, and that's admirable, if sometimes frustrating.

Hooray for the rare good news!

One of the ways I try to gauge the national mood is by reading comment threads on Fark, which is not all that edifying, but is nevertheless one of the few places I've found where pointy-headed liberals and frothing-at-the-mouth fundies coexist. Lately a few of the Bushiest Bushies have admitted that the president is treading on thin ice. Which begs the question: What does he have to do to actually fall through--kill someone with his bare hands on national television?

Also worth noting is Feingold's riveting testimony regarding Clear Channel earlier this year during hearing revisiting the Telecom bill. He appeared to be one of the few politicians who understands how big business has screwed all aspects of the music biz (or at least he's got a knoweldgable staff).
